We at Every HeartBeat Counts believe every heartbeat matters. Our advocacy mission is to uplift the spirits of veterans and individuals who have a cardiac condition. Approximately 9 million veterans receive care through the Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA), and nearly 50% of them have at least one cardiovascular disease. This includes high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Further, according to the (CDC), Centers for Disease Control, mental health issues can cause heart issues, and heart events can trigger mental health struggles, creating a damaging cycle.
